Our South Dakota Enhanced Permit to Carry Concealed Class is a comprehensive class which covers all the requirements set forth by SDCL 23-7-58. This class is for law-abiding adult citizens as defined by applicable federal, state, or local laws, who are residents of South Dakota and at least 18 years of age or older. Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual's right to self-defense.
With your SD Enhanced Permit, a South Dakotan could carry concealed into 38 states! Some of the states you could carry concealed into include: Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Montana, and 30 other states. This class also qualifies South Dakota residents for their Arizona Non-Resident Concealed Carry Permit.
Enhanced Permits issued on or after 01/01/2017 is an optional permit that will allow approved permit holders the ability to present the permit to a retailer when purchasing a firearm, in lieu of a National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The card proves passage of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background check on the spot. Students will take a Written Test(80% minimum passing score), and Firearms Qualification(80% minimum passingscore). Upon successful completion receive their course certificate to apply for their Enhanced Permit to Carry Concealed Permit. This course is only conducted by SD Enhanced Concealed Pistol Use of Force Instructor(s)/NRA Certified Advanced Pistol Instructors.

Who can attend?
- Law Abiding Adult Citizens 18 years of age and up.
- Effective July 1st, 2019
- Juveniles who are at least 12 years of age to 17 years of age may attend:
- Juveniles who attend will participate in all phases of this class:
- Class Room Instruction
- Written Testing
- Live Fire Training
- Qualification
- Juveniles will be issued a certificate of completion / Juvenile Pistol Training Class
- Juveniles will not be issued any materials to apply for any concealed carry permit(s).
- Juveniles who are successful, would be eligible to attend advanced Defensive Firearms Classes.
Students will need to have:
- HANDGUN –
- We recommend using a handgun appropriate for self-defense chambered in a minimum caliber of .380ACP/.38 caliber.
- We recommend using a full sized pistol (e.g. Glock 17), compact pistol (e.g. Glock 19), or sub-compact pistol (e.g. Glock 26, 43, or 42) chambered in minimum .380 ACP/.38 caliber.
- We do not recommend the use of “Pocket Pistols” which are a very small handgun usually in .25, .32, or .380 calibers. Their small size and complexity will greatly increase the difficulty level of learning new techniques and could cause increased frustration on the part of the student
- No Derringers are allowed
- No single-action revolvers are allowed.
- The use of a .22 Long Rifle caliber pistols is acceptable - if you have questions please contact the instructor.
